About the single „Animals Song“

Animals Song was my second song. It was inspired by my growing conviction that humans have no right, except the right of the strongest, to abuse animals. This is true even if he thinks he is helping people (as in animal testing). Humans are responsible for their own fate because they are always the cause of it. This also applies to illnesses. It was a long road to this conviction. A key moment for me was when, as a student, I attended pharmacology lectures and seminars out of interest. Of course, I also wanted to do an internship. Before the internship, the professor asked who would take part in the internship so that they could order the right number of animals.

Suddenly, theory turned into practice and I first got hold of the experiment descriptions. What I read in them and what every student carries out on our fellow creatures “for practice” still gives me the shivers today. The question of possible benefits is simply too short-sighted and does not correspond to the level of development we should actually have reached. Because then we would consequently have to allow or demand many other things that are no longer even allowed to be said today.

Animals Song war mein zweiter Song. Er wurde inspiriert von meiner wachsenden Überzeugung, dass der Mensch kein Recht hat, außer das Recht des Stärkeren, Tiere zu missbrauchen. Das gilt selbst dann, wenn er glaubt, er würde Menschen damit helfen (wie bei Tierversuchen). Der Mensch ist für sein eigenes Schicksal selbst verantwortlich, weil er immer die Ursache dafür gibt. Das gilt auch für Krankheiten. Bis zu dieser Überzeugung war es ein langer Weg. Ein Schlüsselmoment für mich war, als ich als Student, aus Interesse, Pharmakologievorlesungen und Seminare besuchte. Natürlich wollte ich auch gerne ein Praktikum machen. Vor dem Praktikum fragte der Professor, wer am Praktikum teilnehmen würde, damit sie die passende Zahl an Tieren bestellen könnten.

Plötzlich wurde aus der Theorie Praxis und ich habe mir erst die Versuchsbeschreibungen besorgt. Was ich darin gelesen habe und was jeder Student an unseren Mitgeschöpfen „zum Üben“ durchführt, schauert mich noch heute. Die Frage nach dem möglichen Nutzen, ist hier einfach zu kurz gegriffen und entspricht nicht dem Entwicklungsstand, den wir eigentlich erreicht haben sollten. Denn dann müßten wir konsequenterweise noch vieles andere erlauben oder fordern, was heute nicht einmal mehr ausgesprochen werden darf.

L'homme est lui-même responsable de son propre destin, car il en donne toujours la cause. Cela vaut également pour les maladies. Pour arriver à cette conviction, le chemin a été long. Un moment clé pour moi a été lorsque, en tant qu'étudiant, j'ai suivi des cours et des séminaires de pharmacologie par intérêt. Bien sûr, je voulais aussi faire un stage. Avant le stage, le professeur a demandé qui participerait au stage afin qu'ils puissent commander le nombre d'animaux adéquat.

Soudain, la théorie est devenue pratique et je me suis d'abord procuré les descriptions des expériences. Ce que j'y ai lu, et ce que chaque étudiant réalise sur nos compagnons créatures « pour s'entraîner », me donne encore des frissons aujourd'hui. La question de l'utilité éventuelle est ici tout simplement trop courte et ne correspond pas au niveau de développement que nous devrions avoir atteint. Car alors, nous devrions logiquement autoriser ou exiger bien d'autres choses qui ne peuvent même plus être dites aujourd'hui.
